GTA V: The 5 Best Hidden Easter Eggs in San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto V’s open world is packed with over 50 hidden secrets, references, and easter eggs. Here are the five best ones and exactly how to find them.

1. The Ghost of Mount Gordo

Head to the top of Mount Gordo between 11 PM and midnight (in-game time). A glowing apparition of a woman will appear floating above a rock. Look closely and you’ll see the word “JOCK” written in blood on the rock beneath her — a clue pointing to her murderer, Jock Cranley, a stuntman-turned-politician referenced elsewhere in the game.

2. Thelma & Louise

Fly a helicopter over Raton Canyon between 7 PM and 8 PM (in-game time). Below you’ll see police cars surrounding two women in a convertible. Moments later, the car accelerates off the cliff edge — a perfect recreation of the iconic ending of the 1991 film Thelma & Louise.

3. The Sunken UFO

Beneath the ocean off the coast of Paleto Bay, at extreme depth, lies a crashed flying saucer covered in alien writing. You’ll need the submarine (unlocked via story) or a scuba suit to reach it. Another UFO appears above Fort Zancudo at 100% game completion — only visible at night in foggy weather.

4. The Bigfoot Myth — Confirmed

During the mission “Predator”, while controlling Michael with a thermal sniper rifle to target the O’Neil brothers in the forest, aim into the lower-right tree line. A heat signature that looks distinctly non-human will appear — that’s Bigfoot, finally confirmed in the game that spawned the GTA: San Andreas myth.

5. The Lost Hatch

Fans of the TV show Lost will recognize this one. Swim east from the map’s coastline and dive underwater. On the ocean floor you’ll find a hatch with a blinking light — a direct reference to the mysterious hatch from the show, complete with the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 engraved on it.

GTA V’s map is so large that new easter eggs are still being discovered years after the game’s original 2013 release.

The underwater Lost hatch with the numbers is so deep underwater that most players never encounter it organically. It’s almost like Rockstar didn’t even want it found — they just wanted it to exist.

  2. SanAndreasSurvivor

The Mount Gordo ghost is still one of the creepiest things Rockstar has ever put in a game. The word JOCK written in blood, the timing window, the fact she disappears if you get too close — it’s perfectly designed.

I found the Thelma & Louise one completely by accident during a helicopter mission. Didn’t understand what I was watching until I looked it up. The attention to detail in timing it to a specific in-game hour is insane.
